April 08 – April 12 145th Anniversary of the Surrender - Appomattox, VA
Appomattox Court House NHP will commemorate the 145th anniversary of the surrender of General Robert E. Lee to General Ulysses S. Grant with two weekends of special activities in April. Starting April 8th (Thursday) through the 12th (Monday) the park will offer a series of special tours and programs, including hands-on activities for kids on the weekend. The public is invited to enjoy military and civilian living history presentations, guided tours, ranger programs, book singings by authors, and a Stacking of Arms Ceremony on Sunday afternoon. April 10 – April 11 Appomattox History Weekend - Appomattox, VA
145th Anniversary of Lee's surrender to Grant to be held at Clover Hill Village. 1 mile from actual surrender site. Living historians will be portraying Generals Lee & Grant and their lieutenants will recreate historic moments of the final days leading up to and including the surrender. Activities include: Lee's last war counsel, General Gordon's attempted break-out, Lee-Grant meeting, stacking of arms and reduction of colors. Reenactors limited. April 17 Evening War for Southern Independence Concert at the McLean House - Appomattox, VA
Bring your blankets and chairs for an evening concert of Civil War music. The 26th North Carolina Regimental Brass Band will perform a variety of pieces that were familiar to both Union and Confederate soldiers. The park grounds will be free after 5:00 p.m. and the public is invited to walk the village lanes and visit the re-enactor camps. The concert will be at the McLean House and begin at 6:30 p.m. For more information call Ranger Bert Dunkerly at 434-352-8987 ext. 31or the park Visitor Center at ext. 26.
April 17 – April 18 145th Anniversary Encampment - Appomattox, VA
Union and Confederate re-enactment groups will be encamped in the village. They will demonstrate historic weapons and battle tactics, including horse-drawn artillery, on the last battlefield of Lee’s Army. During this weekend, visitors will have a chance to visit Union and Confederate camps and learn about the life of a common Civil War soldier. Activities will include cooking, military inspections, drill, and printing of parole passes for Confederate soldiers in the same building where they were printed in 1865. Each day there will also be a “Stacking of Arms Ceremony” along the stage road, exactly where General Lee’s army stacked arms 145 years ago. There will also be an exhibit by Civil War artifact collector Russell Hicks at the Tavern Guesthouse. April 24-25 Corinth Heritage Day and Confederate Memorial Day - Mississippi.
The Col. W. P. Rogers Camp # 321 Sons of Confederate Veterans is again organizing the 16th Annual two-day event to commemorate Confederate Memorial Day and the sacrifices made by our ancestors. We would like for you and your fellow compatriots to join with us in these weekend activities. You will get to camp on the grounds of the Historic Verandah-Curlee House in historic downtown Corinth; Ms. There will be an opportunity to skirmish on some of the same land where the actual fighting took place in October 1862. You will get to experience this fighting in the same place it took place in the Battle of Corinth. We will furnish firewood, water, and supper Saturday evening. For the public there will be period music, a large display of confederate flags, vendors selling civil war items, and a large civil war relic display. A Memorial service at historic Battery Robinette on Sunday honoring our Confederate ancestors will highlight the weekend. We need for you to help us honor and pay respect to all the Confederate soldiers who fought and died for the cause that they believed in. All activities are free to all attendees and participants. May 16-17 Battle of Wilson's Store - Waxhaws, NC
Come join us for the Second Annual Battle of Wilson's Store Reenactment to be held on the grounds of the Museum of the Waxhaws in Waxhaw, NC. The original battle was held March 1, 1865 as Sherman marched from Columbia, SC through NC. Infantry Units welcome and we still need one artillery unit. May 21-23 Battle of Temple Junction - Temple, TX
Mark your calendars now for Temple's War for Southern Independence reenactment - the Battle of Temple Junction! Come and watch history come to life on the battlegrounds of North Temple Industrial Park. Full-scale battles, period-correct encampments, living history, Military surgeon demonstrations, and Cavalry competitions will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Local school children will experience a Living History Day on Friday. All civilians and Reenactors are encouraged to attend the Friday school event. Admission charges will be waived for Reenactors and Civilians in period dress who arrive on Friday for Living History Day. We are providing 1/2 lb of powder for first 200 muskets/pistols and 10 lbs of powder for first 10 artillery pieces. May increase if we can find additional sponsors. We are also going to double it for those that for muskets and pistols that help with the school day on Friday, atleast 5 lbs more for artillery that helps with the school day. We will be having cav comp, a ladies tea, we are working on a Memorial at a Cemetary a couple miles from event site that contains a large number of Confederate graves and possibly a couple Union. This event is cosponsored by Robert White Camp #1250, SCV and Keyes Battery of Cleburns Division of Reenactors. Keyes will run the command thru Cleburns Division.

June 4-6 Gathering of Civil War Eagles - Winchester, VA
The Gathering of Civil War Eagles is a one-of-a-kind journey back to one of the watershed events in American history – The War Between the States. Gathering of Civil War Eagles is not an academic seminar or a battlefield reenactment. Guests of Gathering of Civil War Eagles will be able to meet and talk with the very personas that made the critical decisions and led the opposing armies. September 10-12 Battle of Bost Grist Mill - Concord, NC
We would like to invite you to the Battle of Bost Grist Mill. The mill is located on 600 acres on NC Highway 200 near NC Highway 49, south of Concord, NC. It is one of the oldest commercial establishments in Cabarrus County and has been the site of several reenactments. The weekend encampment will feature mid-day battles on both days with infantry, artillery, and mounted calvary. You will also see period civilians and a period hospital impression. For one weekend each year, Allison Woods travels back in time. This is a living history and reenactment event. October 15-17 Battle of Camp Wildcat - near London, KY
148th Anniversary of the Battle of Camp Wildcat, London, Kentucky, sponsored by the Laurel Home Guard. The three-day event begins with a school day Friday. As many reenactors as possible are encouraged to come early and help share living history with the 800-1,400 children who usually attend. We would also like demonstrations of period crafts, impersonations, and enough people for a small skirmish for the students. Dinner and hayride provided for helping with School Day. Saturday and Sunday feature a full battle reenactment each day. Other events include historical speakers on Saturday and Sunday, memorial service, demonstrations, civilian social, period church service, dance, and more. Dinner served to reenactors Saturday night. Sutler space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Sutler fee is $30. Food vendors allowed by invitation only. Military reenactors, due to the difficulty in obtaining powder, you must pre-register in order to be assured of powder. Reenactor pre-registration deadline is Sept. 1, 2009. Fee is $5 per person ($10 per family in same household) paid before Oct. 1; after Oct. 1 (including walk-ons) fee is $8 per person. Union reenactors needed. Make checks payable to Laurel Home Guard. November 6-7 War for Southern Independence Weekend - Washington State Park, AR
Visitors will walk the streets of a town touched by the hand of war. We will interpret the social and political issues leading up to the struggle as well as its last two years (1863 - 1865) when Washington was Confederate Capital of Arkansas. Reenactors from across the region will present living history demonstrations, including combat scenarios, throughout the weekend.
